CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING Clients can cancel or reschedule appointments up to 12 hours before start time. If a deposit was placed at the time of booking, it will be added to the rescheduled appointment. Practitioner reserves the right to keep the deposit if rescheduling doesn't occur or if client cancels appointments more than 3 times in a 6 month period. Policy is subject to change at any time. Practitioner reserves the right to enforce this cancellation/reschedule policy at their own discretion. FAQ **Is a 60 minute appointment going to be 50 minutes of hands-on, etc? No. All appointments have a built in 30 minute buffer at the end of the appointment to allow the practitioner time to use the facilities, clean up between clients, grab a bite to eat, close out services, etc. Your scheduled appointment length will be hands-on for the entire selected time frame, i.e., a 60 minute appointment will last 60 minutes of hands-on massage time and will begin when the practitioner places hands on the body. Your time to discuss your treatment plan, pay for services, use the restroom, or get dressed/undressed does not come out of your appointment length. Please do your best to show up on time, regardless, as it will keep the flow of the day consistent. **Can I bring my friend/child/service pet/etc. with me to my appointment? Yes! Well behaved humans are welcome at Hidden Gem. ADA protects service animals and Hidden Gem is happy to comply. What do a well behaved human and service animals have in common? They understand "sit", which is what will be expected as Hidden Gem Massage is in a shared building and undue running around will be a disturbance for other tenants. **What do I wear during the massage? It's completely up to you! If you want to dress down fully or your prefer to leave your shirt on, it will make no difference to your practitioner. You will be dressing down in privacy and then lying under a sheet and blanket. At no time will any inappropriate part of your body be exposed and only the areas discussed during intake will be massaged. For example, if you want a full body massage but aren't sure you're okay with glute work, your massage will consist of face, scalp, pecs, arms, hands, feet, legs, and back. The request to not have glute work will be adhered to, as your comfort is of the utmost importance. **Is it weird if I talk/don't talk during my appointment? Not at all! Your practitioner will follow your lead. If you speak, they will speak. If you're quiet, they will be too. This aspect is personal to the client and each person is different, the massage will reflect the cues set forth by you. **Do you offer any discounts? Yes, there will be massage promotions from time to time as the website and my schedule is developed. I'm happy to talk more about this with you! **Tipping....how does that work? Tipping is never expected but always appreciated! If you're unsure what is a decent/common amount, you can refer to the prompt at the time of payment or go to a social networking website (such as r/massage therapists) to see what other people are saying. **What age frame is appropriate for massage? In Florida, a parent must give consent for any minor under 18 to receive massage. Clients under age 16 will require a parent be in the room at the time of service. 16-17 is allowed to have massage with written parental consent but the parent does not have to be present for the service. **Is prenatal massage okay for me and my baby? Massage therapy can be beneficial during pregnancy for both physical and mental reasons and you may begin massage during any trimester of your pregnancy. Outdated literature exists that suggests a risk of miscarriage in the first trimester but that is being phased out as a myth by most places. If you are unsure, please consult your doctor to make sure they believe it's a good course for you and your baby. **Why do I need to give you a copy of my ID? Effective July 1, 2024, Florida House Bill 197 (amending Chapter 480, Florida Statutes, specifically §480.0535) requires massage establishments to verify and record client IDs before providing services. Establishments must keep records of client names and addresses for at least one year. This measure was passed in an effort to increase safety and to reduce illegal activity within massage establishments. *Your massages are relatively inexpensive compared to other independent studios, does that mean the work isn't quality? Absolutely not. I believe massage should be achievable for everyone. I chose to keep my price competitive with chain establishments so people looking for affordable options didn't have to sign a membership to keep their price point reasonable.
