The sensible stuff nobody really wants to read... but we need to have it! By booking an appointment with Groomies at Salthouse, you agree to the following terms. They're here to keep things fair, safe and straightforward for everyone — especially the dogs. 🩷 📅 Appointments, Cancellations & No-Shows Please arrive at your agreed appointment time. If you're more than 15 minutes late, I may need to shorten or rearrange your appointment so it doesn't affect the next dog. If you need to cancel or rearrange, please give at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice and missed appointments may incur a charge of 50% of the booked appointment price. Further appointments may not be accepted until outstanding cancellation/no-show fees have been paid. New customers may be asked for a £10 booking deposit, which is deducted from the cost of their appointment. 💷 Prices & Payment Prices are based primarily on your dog's weight, coat type and service booked. Additional charges may apply where significantly more time or work is required due to severe matting, excessive coat, fleas, additional handling or other circumstances outside a standard groom. Where possible, I'll discuss additional charges with you before proceeding. Payment is due in full on collection. Cash is preferred, but bank transfer is also accepted. 🐶 Your Dog's Health & Behaviour Please tell me about any medical conditions, allergies, injuries, medication, behavioural concerns, bite history or changes in your dog's health or behaviour before their appointment. I reserve the right to adapt, pause or stop any groom if I believe continuing would compromise the safety or welfare of your dog or myself. If a groom cannot be completed because a dog becomes excessively distressed, aggressive or unsafe to handle, you may still be charged for the appointment time used. Appropriate grooming restraints, a muzzle or protective equipment may be used when reasonably necessary for safety. These will only be used for as long as required. If your dog is unwell, please contact me before attending so we can decide whether their appointment should be rearranged. 🩷 Nervous & Reactive Dogs Nervous and reactive dogs are very welcome at Groomies. Please tell me about any known triggers when booking so I can make their visit as comfortable as possible. My own dogs, Maple & Indy, are normally in the salon with me on Mondays and Fridays. Dogs that are reactive to other dogs or require a completely dog-free environment should therefore be booked on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday. ✂️ Matting — Humanity Before Vanity Your dog's comfort will always come before preserving a particular hairstyle. I will not subject a dog to prolonged or painful de-matting. If matting cannot be safely and comfortably removed, I may recommend clipping the affected area — or the entire coat — shorter. Removing a severely matted coat can reveal pre-existing skin problems and may occasionally result in irritation, redness or small nicks due to the skin being tightly pulled into the matting. Additional charges may apply where significant extra time is required. Where possible, this will be discussed with you. 🦟 Fleas & Parasites If fleas are discovered during your dog's appointment, I may use an appropriate flea shampoo/treatment and will need to thoroughly clean and sanitise the salon afterwards. The current additional charges are: Flea treatment: £5 Salon deep clean: £10 Where possible I'll contact you first. If I cannot reach you, by agreeing to these terms you authorise me to take reasonable steps necessary to safely complete the groom and prevent contamination of the salon. Further treatment of your dog and home will still be required to break the flea life cycle. 🩺 Accidents & Veterinary Emergencies Every reasonable precaution is taken while your dog is in my care, but grooming involves sharp equipment, electrical equipment and moving animals, so it can never be completely risk-free. Minor irritation, scratches or small nicks can occasionally occur, particularly where coats are severely matted or dogs move unexpectedly. If your dog becomes ill or injured and I believe veterinary treatment is urgently required, I will attempt to contact you immediately. If I cannot reach you, you authorise me to seek appropriate veterinary treatment in your dog's best interests. Responsibility for veterinary costs will be considered according to the circumstances of the incident rather than automatically assigned. 🐾 Older Dogs & Existing Health Conditions Senior dogs and dogs with existing medical conditions are very welcome. Grooming can, however, be more physically demanding for some dogs. I may modify or stop a groom if your dog becomes uncomfortable, excessively tired or distressed. Please keep me informed of any health changes, even if they don't initially seem relevant to grooming. Comfort beats the perfect haircut every time. ❤️ 🐕 Puppies Puppies are welcome once it is appropriate for them to attend the salon following their vaccinations. Puppy appointments focus on creating positive, confidence-building experiences rather than achieving a perfect groom. I won't force a puppy through a procedure they're struggling to cope with simply to complete a checklist — we have plenty of future appointments to build those skills. 🦷 emmi®-pet Teeth Cleaning emmi®-pet is a non-veterinary oral hygiene service and is not a substitute for veterinary dental assessment or treatment. I cannot diagnose or treat dental disease. If I discover anything concerning — including painful or loose teeth, significant gum inflammation, unusual lumps or lesions — I may stop the treatment and recommend that you contact your vet. Results vary between dogs and depend on existing dental health, frequency of treatment and your dog's tolerance of the procedure. Each dog requires their own brush head for hygiene purposes, which will need replacing periodically. I do not manually scrape tartar from teeth. 📸 Photographs I regularly take photographs of dogs before, during and after their appointments and may use these on Groomies' website, social media or marketing materials. If you would prefer your dog's photographs not to be used, just let me know — no explanation needed. 🩷 🐾 XL Bully-Type Dogs XL Bully-type dogs are welcome where I am legally and safely able to groom them. Owners are responsible for complying with all current legal requirements applicable to their dog, including any required exemption, microchipping and insurance. I may ask to see appropriate documentation before accepting an appointment and reserve the right to decline or stop an appointment where legal requirements cannot be satisfied or I cannot safely provide the service. 🔐 Your Information Your personal information and your dog's records are used to manage appointments, communicate with you and provide safe and appropriate grooming services. Information is kept securely and will not be shared unnecessarily with third parties. You can contact me if you'd like to know what information I hold about you or would like your details updated. 🗣️ Something Not Quite Right? Please tell me! If you're unhappy with your dog's groom, please contact me within 24 hours. Where appropriate, I'll arrange a reasonable adjustment. I'd much rather have the opportunity to put something right than have you go home unhappy. 🩷 📝 Finally... These terms may occasionally be updated as Groomies, services or legal requirements change.
