Riders Details

Old Town Riding School is a small, family-run riding school. We are licensed by the local authority and cater to all ages and abilities, from 4yrs + children to adults. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced rider, we offer a range of services including pony rides, private and semi-private lessons, equine support, pony days, and pony mornings. Our friendly and welcoming atmosphere makes us the perfect place to learn and improve your riding skills. Old Town Riding School 

By booking a session with Old Town Riding School, you agree to our policy of requiring full payment at the time of booking. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, but we require 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice or for no-shows. However, if you reschedule your appointment using the provided link, your deposit will be automatically transferred to your future booking.

My daughter had a pony party 4 years ago and it was brilliant! We then done a pony afternoon for my daughters. The staff are brilliant and make it fun filled for the kids. Would recommend 100%

What a lovely experience. Myself and my wife are complete novices. We were given nice calm horses, and one member of staff each. The staff members ensured that we had helmets, that we were comfortable and confident before teaching us new things. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt that we had learned things from our trainers. We hope to sign up for several more lessons going forwards 

Lia was great with Arthur, gave him pointers and showed him how to control the horse. He loved his experience and wants to come back again. I would recommend  it for children wanting to start horseriding 

Buddy had an amazing time horse riding. As it was his first time I was a little unsure if he would want to do it. But he loved every second of it.

Evie had her 1st lesson today on Bullseye and absolutely loved it can’t wait for next week, friendly staff and very encouraging.

I have booked my son in twice now for equine support and each time the girls have been really kind and patient with him, we’re continuing with our lessons as my little boy loves it so much thanks to all the team for being so accommodating

My daughters get so excited about their horse riding lessons here. They’ve also learnt so much and the trainer is so patient and kind.

My four year old son who struggles sometimes with big feelings and paying attention attended an equine support session and it was one of the few times he was really engaged. It was wonderful to see him so focused; sensitive and loving. The staff were fantastic and really do cater for different personality types. Would strongly recommend these sessions. 

We had a joint mum and daughter ride today with Lia, Milo and Stella. It was great fun, Daughter had her first canter and mum was back in the saddle after 25+ years. Lia is a great instructor, really encouraging and full of praise. Thank you x

We had a great time! I booked for my daughter to have her first riding experience along side her father and they both throughly enjoyed it. The horses were so gentle, and the handler was bubbly, lovely and great with my daughter. The experience was relaxed but professional. A really good afternoon!

I am returning to riding after 30 years and wanted some lessons to refresh my skills. Wow! I learnt more in my first lesson with Lia than I have ever learnt riding before. Lia was understanding that I would be a bit rusty and was very encouraging and boosted my confidence. I thoroughly enjoyed the lesson and Lia’s way of teaching. I left on a high having learnt so much. I feel like I am actually learning to ride now instead of just being a passenger. I can’t wait for my next lesson with Lia.

I came here for equine therapy for my 7 year old son who has additional needs. Everyone I came across worked brilliantly with him and he wee enthusiastic and happy through the session. He groomed tacked up and rode as well as having a look at their chickens! Friendly staff and interact very well with neurodiverse and those with disabilities. 

Really good. Instructor was great and made us feel very at ease. We really enjoyed the session. Would definitely recommend. Very friendly and welcoming. 

Our 5 year old loved her pony ride and is desperate to come back again. Naomi was lovely and put her at ease straight away.  Peaceful calm environment. 

We have been coming for riding lessons for the past year and I can't praise the team enough. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter has made fantastic progress since she started, she has grown in confidence and it is nice to see how the riding instructors help her through every step and guide her to become even more confident. Can't recommend the Old Town Riding School enough!

Molly had a lesson today. She is visiting from Ireland and it was a treat. She loved it!  Her instructor was amazing, very patient and gave good clear instructions. And now wants to find a school over in Ireland (or move here).

I booked my daughters to do the 20 min session. They enjoyed it, I did ask for them to do a little trot on the form but they didn’t considering it costs more than double the amount a 10 min ride costs. Besides that they thoroughly enjoyed it, the instructor was friendly and attentive, will definitely be back soon.

It was an absolutely fabulous experience. Hazel, my instructor made me feel very comfortable at the lesson and guided me through it all. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot. Will be booking in more sessions.

My 10 year old daughter really enjoyed her third lesson riding Stella - she had a permanent  smile on her face for the whole lesson where she learnt to trot confidently.   She’s very much looking forward to the next lesson.  

We have always had such a good experience here. We are never rushed and the team are always so friendly and happy to accommodate. The ponies are so well behaved and beautifully trained. Love coming here!

What an amazing experience, I am a beginner and my mother hadn’t ridden in years and they were so lovely and supportive with teaching and the right level of help, grooming the horses first to get familiar with them, putting the saddle and the bridle on and then riding. 100% recommend 🙌

My daughter throughly enjoyed the experience at the stables. She rode on Bullseye who was so gentle and calm. The staff were extremely attentive and the whole experience was incredible! My grandson really enjoyed his first-ever riding lesson which he said was far too short!  On Stella's back, she was made to stop, ride on, and patted sat the end to ensure she had done as well as the rider.  Old Town Riding School was both welcoming  and professional. I am sure Albert will want to repeat the experience in such a friendly atmosphere.

Brilliant first introduction to horse riding. My instructor was very patient with a nervous rider and helped me gain confidence. 

I took my 4-year-old cousin, who is obsessed with unicorns, to the "Unicorn Experience" at Old Town Riding School for her birthday, and she absolutely loved it! She had the chance to turn a horse into a unicorn by decorating it, and then she got to ride the unicorn she had decorated. She was so amazed and completely in love with the experience. The horse, and the lady who guided her through the process were both incredibly gentle and kind. I would definitely recommend this experience!

Our granddaughter is 2 1/2 and has a life long condition which means she is immuno compromised- it’s difficult to find something for her to do where she isn’t in close proximity to others . 
She had a ride with Jess who was amazing with her , she didn’t want to leave . Everyone was very friendly and helpful .

It was so much fun and the teachers are so kind. The horses are calm, but they are great for each level. I enjoyed the bareback riding and once my horse understood that I wanted to jump it was so much fun. Thank you so much. 

I would thoroughly recommend the Old Town Riding School. They are friendly, approachable and wonderful with children. My daughter is 8 years old and absolutely loves coming here. 

Being a total novice rider and with some bad horse experiences in younger years, the team did a great job of building my confidence riding and learning how to ride.

Amazing experience ! We booked the unicorn experience for our daughter 5th birthday and she loved it! Our lovely instructor Jess really made sure the whole experience was great from start to finish. She was so patient, making sure our daughter was understanding everything we were doing with the poney and enjoying every bit. The 1 to 1 riding lesson was the highlight for me - I got to see my daughter smiling, sitting proudly on her poney and just giggling with pure joy. I recommend!!

I highly recommend the Old Town Riding School! My 3-year-old niece had her first riding experience there, and it was absolutely magical. Louie was fantastic with her—patient, kind, and encouraging, which made her feel safe and excited. She can't stop talking about her time with him!

Great first lesson with Emma on Bullseye for my 10 year old daughter. Emma was patient, knowledgeable and fun.  My daughter loved it. Very friendly and a nice atmosphere amongst staff and riders. 

My Daughter Hazel has been riding for around 18 months. Staff are always friendly and have a laugh. Hazel's progress has really come on and her confidence has grown.
