At The Dirty Dawg, we believe grooming should be an experience where your dog feels safe. That is why we take a dog-led, one-to-one approach to every groom.

With just one dog and one groomer, your dog gets our full attention in a calm, relaxed environment. We take the time to understand who they are, listen to their body language and adapt the experience around their individual needs.

Our approach is holistic, fear-free and force-free - looking beyond the coat to consider your dogs comfort, confidence, emotions, behaviour and overall wellbeing.

We don't believe in rushing a dog through a groom or forcing them to cope with something they’re struggling with. If they need a little more time, we give them the time. If they need a break, we take one. If something isn’t working, we change our approach.

And because you are the person who knows your dog the best, you are part of the process too. We listen to your experiences, keep you informed and work together to help your dog feel more confident around grooming.

Whether your dog is confident, cautious, nervous or somewhere in between, they’re treated as an individual - with patience, kindness and understanding.

Because for us, a successful groom isn’t just about how your dog looks - it is about how they feel too.’

Terms and conditions

Cancellations and Deposits – Please allow a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or amendments. If a deposit has been taken and you cancel before the 24 hour cut off, your deposit will be carried over to your next groom. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice your deposit will not be returned.

No shows – If you do not arrive for your appointment, I will unfortunately have to charge you the full price of the missed groom and take a deposit for your next appointment.

Poor behaviour - For your dogs welfare, along with our safety - we have the right at any point to terminate a groom.

Ingrown nails or prior injuries – I am unable to remove Ingrown nails, due to the risk of infection. They would need to be removed by a vet and any infections treated. If an ingrown nail is found after the groom has commenced, you will be advised at pick up and urged to seek veterinary treatment.

Fleas – If your dog is found to have fleas, I may decline the groom until treated. If the dog has already been admitted and grooming has commenced when the fleas are discovered, then a charge of £20 will be added to the groom to fumigate the salon, I must do this to prevent them being passed to other dogs. We reserve the right to terminate the groom at anytime.

Pregnant and nursing dogs – I cannot groom pregnant or nursing dogs, unless your veterinarian has specifically requested the dog needs to be groomed for its welfare. Prior to your appointment, please provide your veterinary contact information so I may discuss the requirements and welfare of the dog with them. I require written consent before any grooming takes place.

Matting policy – Dematting in not included in the price of the groom, there will be an extra charge for the service due to the extra wear and tear on equipment. This charge is £20 on top of the full groom price. If a dog is in a severely matted condition, it can be very painful for the dog, therefore, using normal de-matting techniques cannot be used on any matted dog. My only option is to clip the fur very close to the skin to remove the matting. I cannot knowingly cause an animal pain, under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Clipping a matted dog will take longer than a regular clip because the blades must run below the matt very close to the skin, this may cause irritation (Clipper rash) because the clipper blades can get hot but we do take regular breaks and have multiple blades on hand to try avoid this. Dogs who are clipped so close to the skin are much more prone to clipper rash and may display redness or itching soon after the groom. Please be aware that we may uncover fleas, sores, inflammation or self-inflicted wounds and other potential problems which have been hidden by the matted hair.

Privacy policy – The Dirty Dawg Grooming Salon may collect the following data, which includes personal data from you: Your name and current address; contact information such as email address and telephone number. Your personal information will be held securely in accordance with the GDPR (EU) 2016/679 for use in conducting business with The Dirty Dawg Grooming Salon. I allow the collection and use of my data.

Social media – I allow photos to be posted on social media sites. The Dirty Dawg Grooming Salon will take pictures of your dog before and after the groom for the purposes of posting on social media to use in advertising the business. Your name and your dogs name will not be added to the picture.

First time leaving one of my cockapoos with Laura. FAB service - great looking full groom. Lovely lady and Luna seemed really happy; not at all anxious to leave

Laura did a fabulous full groom on my very grubby, smelly cockapoo. She thoroughly checked with me how I wanted the coat trimmed, length of ears and tail etc . What a fabulous job Laura did. We will be back again!

We took our cavapoochon Toby to the DIrtyDawg for a full groom. As we were leaving he became agitated and distressed. However with Laura’s patience and reassurance on our return he emergered with a lovely new summer cut, all ready for the hot weather. He looked and smelt gorgeous and we were very pleased. Thank you Laura will definitely use your service again.

Laura is so patient and caring with Marlowe, he’s had a fair few groomers and he was always so fearful and hated going. He absolutely loves coming to Laura, she recognises when he needs a break and takes the extra time if he needs it rather than rushing the job. Means a lot to have that trust and makes it so much easier and stress free. Even after her move we continue to travel 45 mins to see her. The cut is always what I’ve asked for and my kids love the extra touches (cute bows at Xmas).

My dog has recently had surgery and Laura was so gentle and kind with him. I know he us in safe hands when he is with her, and he comes away looking handsome and smelling beautiful. I would definitely recommend Laura

My ruben loves seeing laura, he is always so relaxed, happy and looking fabulas when i pick him up.

Laura takes great care of my two Cockapoos.

Great service always from Laura. My cockapoo always comes back all pampered and happy

We were warmly greeted and absolutely delighted with Mollie’s groom. Mollie came out looking beautiful and smelling so lovely. Thank you Laura.

Laura handled him beautifully...

Thank you

Laura is fantastic! She took time to get to know and desensitise our St Bernard puppy and he loves going for The Full Monty. He comes back smelling amazing and very relaxed. Highly recommended.

Laura was amazing with our little Pomeranian and Miki. It was their first visit with Laura. Laura took her time so as not to upset the dogs, they came out looking fab with tails wagging. Got some very good advice fir our Pomeranian's coat. Highly recommend 👌

This mask combines the powerful detoxifying exfoliant that is kaolin with the conditioning goodness of Mango Butter & Glycerin to create the perfect mud mask for our furry friends. Mango butter which is made from the natural oil from mango seeds, acts as an amazing emollient to add slip & glide to the mask whilst offering rejuvenating qualities to the hair & skin. Chamomile is a great source of flavonoids that help add a glossy sheen to the coat.

This is a specialist technique which is generally used on certain coat types such as wire haired breeds like Border Terriers, Wire Haired Dachshund etc. This service takes between 3-6 hours and includes hand stripping the coat to breed standard, nail cut and file, and ear cleanse.
We recommend not washing a dog after hand stripping, so we therefore offer a complimentary bath and blow dry 2 weeks after the hand-stripping process.

An exact price will be given at the pre-treatment consultation, as factors such as time since last hand-strip and condition of the coat will determine time needed to complete this treatment.

1:1 Fear free session.
A dedicated session for dogs who need a little more time, patience and support around grooming.

We'll work at your dog's pace, focusing on whatever they need that day - whether that is settling in to the salon, handling, or introducing equipment.

There is no expectation of completing a full groom. Some dogs may achieve lots; others may only manage a few small steps. Both are valuable progress.
You are paying for the dedicated appointment and specialist care, not how much grooming we manage to complete.

If your dog is new to The Dirty Dawg, we recommend starting with our free settling in session first, unless we've discussed a Trust Builder with you directly.

The Trust Builder - Fear free Confidence Session

Keep your pet’s paws in perfect condition with our professional nail clipping service. Regular nail maintenance is essential for your pet’s comfort and health. Overgrown nails can cause discomfort, pain, and even lead to injuries. I am skilled in handling even the most anxious pets, ensuring a stress-free nail clipping experience. I use high-quality, pet-safe tools to ensure that your pet’s nails are trimmed correctly and efficiently. I am trained to recognise the correct length for each pet’s nails, preventing any discomfort or injury.
