Puppy Introduction Session

For Puppies 6 Months & Under. Puppy Introduction Session - Start your puppy's grooming journey right with a free 15 minute introduction session with Kate at Lady & the Mutts. Kate will walk your puppy through the environment, tools and sounds to help build your puppy's confidence and prevent future fear. The focus is on handling, positive reinforcement and making grooming a familiar, pleasant experience. We recommend introducing puppies to grooming from 12 weeks of age or shortly after they have completed their initial vaccination course. There are many things you can do at home before this time to get your puppy used to the grooming process; exposure to being brushed, being near a hair dryer & getting your puppy desenitised to being touched all over helps to set them up for success both in day to day life, and in grooming settings. Please feel free to contact me if you want any advice or tips on how to start introducing your puppy to grooming at home before your first appointment.

Desensitisation Session

This service is for dogs who sometimes find the grooming process is a bit too much and need a bit of extra time to gain some confidence and trust. Grooming can sometimes be a sensory overload for dogs, in these desensitisation sessions, we take everything back to basics and focus on positive reinforcement. The goal is to reintroduce dogs to every aspect of the grooming process from the noise and feel of dryers & clippers to getting them used to being on the table, handled and brushed. At Lady & the Mutts, we want your dog to be comfortable and confident which is why these sessions are unlimited for all clients. Meet & Greet Introduction Session

For peace of mind for both you and your beloved pet, come and meet me before you book a grooming service. This introduction session is perfect for nervous dogs, dogs over 6 months old who have never had any grooming experience, or for those who just want to come and meet me before booking in for a service. 15 minutes of one-on-one time where you can ask any questions, if appropriate we can introduce your dog to some of the grooming equipment to determine whether there are any areas of the grooming process that would require further desensitisation, and this time also allows your dog to freely explore the salon at their own pace to help build their confidence within the area. These sessions are also great for me to get to know both you and your pet, get an understanding and discuss what your preferences are in terms of desired coat length/style, and allows me to gather an understanding of how best to tailor your pet's groom in the most appropriate way for them.
